PIMA GOP WANTS FAIR AND TRANSPARENT RTA RESOLUTION

AG should step-up to statutory duty

Tucson, AZ – Today was supposed to be the day that the parties argued the Pima County Republican Party's motion for judgment on the pleadings in the RTA ballot lawsuit. In this motion, the Pima County Republican Party urged the Court and the parties to comply with the law regarding the preservation of the ballots from the RTA election. Unfortunately, today’s premature Democrat appeal from the dismissal of their cross-claim will only stall resolution of the case.

“The Pima County Republican Party believes that its motion will place the RTA election issues where they belong: in the hands of Attorney General Goddard. As we have stated before; if the AG’s investigation causes him to believe that counting the
ballots would produce evidence of illegality in the RTA election, we urge the AG to take custody of the ballots and count them. We also urge the AG to take whatever legal steps necessary to ensure that the public has confidence that the ballots are recounted fairly and accurately,” said Pima County GOP Chairman Bob Westerman.
