Sarah Palin Takes Center Stage

Last Night on the ABC Network, GOP Vice-Presidential Candidate SARAH PALIN took ALL questions from LIBeral Commentator Charlie Gibson and hit a Home Run!

Nice try Charlie, you LIBeral shill! She made him look foolish. Great Job Sarah!

Here are some reactions to the interview:

From Politico.com

Roy Blunt, Rep. (R-Mo.):
Governor Palin hit the ball out of the park in her interview with Charlie Gibson tonight. Her push back on the issue of greatest importance – energy – demonstrates how ready she is to serve as our next Vice President. Furthermore, her answers on foreign policy – from NATO to Georgia to Israel - were impressive. Governor Palin put her critics on notice with her performance tonight that she is more than ready.

Steven G. Calabresi, Professor of law, Northwestern University:
Palin’s interview shows her to be Reaganesque in her toughness, niceness, and ability to connect with ordinary Americans. The gaffe of the week was Biden’s concession that Hillary would have been a better choice as Obama’s running mate.

Ron Bonjean, Republican strategist:
I would give her a solid 9 for her performance so far because she defied expectations.

Governor Palin is quickly becoming known as the Iron Lady of Alaska.

She defied expectations tonight, showed resolve, was tough as nails and clearly did her foreign policy homework. Charlie Gibson was a like a professor shooting questions at Palin like
it was her final oral exam to make the grade. I thought it was odd the way ABC News spliced through the interview. It made me wonder what they left on the cutting room floor.

My opinion of her was strengthened through the quick, unequivocal responses she gave to the questions on VP experience, foreign relations and her relationship with God. She was direct and clear in her interview. I think what people will take away from it is that she is strong, well-rounded and does not use extraneous language to make her points. She was very strong on Russia, but where else could she go?

Americans will like her even more because she talks like one of them and does not use the art of complicated political language or sophisticated diplomacy. I would give her a solid 9 for her performance so far because she defied expectations.

Some in the media and Obama wanted to use this interview to heighten the campaign conflict. From what I have seen tonight, Obama and his surrogates may want to use Russia to say she is too direct with foreign policy, but that may quickly backfire on them.

Zach Wamp, Rep. (R-Tenn.):

Governor Palin is confident, smart, disciplined and while not yet totally prepared on the issues, she clearly is getting there....The country likes her so she will get a pass or two. If she holds up beyond that, she could be a transformative woman in American history. If not, we will all be disappointed.

Governor Palin is confident, smart, disciplined and while not yet totally prepared on the issues, she clearly is getting there. Her learning curve is steep, but she is a climber. Presentation: 9, Content: 7.

Charlie Gibson was on a mission with questions as tough as, “Should we chase insurgents across the border into Pakistan?” Having been there two months ago, I can assure you that question is not an easy one for even the more experienced of us. At the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan is a vast mountainous area called the FATA (Federally Authorized Tribal Area) that is off limits really to everyone from either country except for the tribal inhabitants. I met with then-President Musharraf and while he maintained military control of Pakistan, he did not have control of this region. Many believe Osama bin Laden is there where they "protect their own.”

This all makes the "border of Pakistan" harder to define than most. So the test Governor Palin faces is very difficult. The country likes her so she will get a pass or two. If she holds up beyond that, she could be a transformative woman in American history. If not, we will all be disappointed.

Whit Ayres, Republican strategist:

On a one to ten scale, with ten
being perfect, I’d rate her a 6 on this interview...a 9 as a VP pick, and an 11
on driving the Democrats nuts.

She did reasonably well for her first big interview on the national stage, and she’s likely to get better because she’s obviously bright and learns quickly. On a one to ten scale, with ten being perfect, I’d rate her a 6 on this interview (based on what we saw Thursday night), a 9 as a VP pick, and an 11 on driving the Democrats nuts.

Gibson, who sat back in his chair and wriggled his foot impatiently, had the skeptical, annoyed tone of a university president who agrees to interview the daughter of a trustee, but doesn't believe she merits admission.

When he asked her, slowly and solemnly to "look the country in the eye" and say whether she truly felt qualified to be vice president and possibly commander in chief, Gibson seemed to expect Palin to express at least a moment of humility and self-doubt. Palin said she had no doubts whatsoever when asked to be Senator John McCain's running mate. ("I answered him yes because I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can't blink. You have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we're on, reform of this country and victory in the war, you can't blink.") Gibson suggested that her brash, unwavering confidence sounded like "hubris."

After Sarah Palin's incredible perfomance on ABC ( All Barrack Channel) with Charlie Gibson I think all of American will now agree that expertise is overrated. Gut instincts, being tough, and being decisive, and not blinking are all far more important than actually knowing things.

Our new savior of the GOP, Sarah Palin, is the one who is finally waking everyone up. Sarah is serious about foreign policy. Sarah is serious about cutting taxes. Sarah is serious about an energy policy drill, baby, drill

She has it all. She is honest. She is a religious She is incurious . She is anti-science. She may be inexperienced, but Sarah works from the gut and places a greater value on instinct than knowledge.

Sarah he is supremely self-confident to the point of not recognizing how ill-equipped she is to lead the country. And this drives the liberal elite media like Gibson crazy.

Palin’s willingness to go to war with Russia says more about her than anything else so far. The liberals kept telling us there was a reason why for sixty years both nations bent over backwards to avoid all-out war: they said there would be no winner. Notorious softy Nikita Khruschev once observed that if there was a nuclear exchange "The living would envy the dead."

Palin will show those Russians that Nuclear Winter is followed by the bounty of Nuclear Spring and the balmy warmth of Nuclear Summer

Palin is the antidote to all those pointy-head resume thick elitists who inhabit Washington.

She is clearly a common sense straight shooter.
