New Ad: 90% with Pelosi

Tucson, AZ – Tim Bee’s campaign released an ad correcting the incumbent’s current portrayal as a “bi-partisan” politician. In recent weeks, the incumbent has attempted to depict her record as one of a “non-partisan”, in an effort to distance herself from her current status as a partisan member of this “do nothing” Congress. The commercial details the Giffords-Pelosi agenda and why it is wrong for our troops in combat and why the incumbent is wrong for southern Arizona.

The incumbent’s record speaks for itself. Our current member of Congress votes with the Pelosi agenda over 90% of the time. This Giffords-Pelosi agenda includes voting to block funding for U.S. troops in harm’s way and for giving known terrorists a right to call their lawyer.

Local veterans had a few words to say about blocking funding for our men and women in uniform and Giffords’ fight to give terrorists full constitutional rights, as if they were American citizens.

On Habeas Corpus:

“The Military Commissions Act of 2006 guarantees that captured enemy combatants will receive a full and fair trial, consistent with America’s obligations under international and domestic law, including allowing them to challenge their detention in a federal court, which is precisely what the right of habeas corpus is. That’s pretty generous towards any enemy who torture and behead their captives and murder innocents. However, his limited right of habeas corpus does not need to be redefined by legislation that would permit even further trial delaying tactics as would be allowed by H.R.2826 which is co-sponsored by Representative Giffords and 48 other liberal Democrats and two ill informed Republicans. This is another example of Gabby not knowing the facts or blindly supporting the liberal party line instead of what’s best for the military and the country in The Global War on Terrorism.” Gene Fenstermacher, Colonel USAF (Retired), Korean War Veteran

“If we get to the point where captured enemy fighters can
essentially demand to see their lawyers, then our soldiers will have a much tougher time gathering time sensitive information on the battlefield. Our soldiers need as much information that they can gather as fast as they can
gather in order for them to beat the enemy and keep themselves safe in battle.”
Don Smith, Southern Arizona Coordinator, Vets For
Freedom.

"For Giffords to co-sponsor a law that would give our most cherished constitutional guarantees to a captured enemy combatant is unbelievably naive. Bearing in mind that the people she wanted to empower were captured while actively trying to kill our soldiers - soldiers who have sworn to protect the very constitutional rights we most treasure - shows a complete and utter lack of even the most basic understanding of either the international laws of war or the realities of combat. Imagine the ridiculous image of enemy combatants captured on the battlefield tying up our already crowded federal courts with endless petitions of habeas corpus - challenging our right under all recognized international laws of war to keep them from returning to fight. How this would help anyone except those people who have either sworn to destroy us or convert us to Islam is beyond logic." Mike Holmes, Veteran, US National Guard

Blocking funding for troops in harm’s way :

"If Giffords' repeated efforts to stop funding the Iraq campaign had been successful, then not only would she have prevented the defeat of Al Qaeda in Iraq, but more tragically, all the sacrifices we had already made to that point would have been for nothing. We have been successful in Iraq despite her best efforts at forcing us towards defeat and failure. So how will she respond to the potentially more dangerous and difficult campaign in Afghanistan? If things get tougher there, will she again vote to run away and let that country return to the way it was on the 10th of September 2001?"
