JOHN MCCAIN YESTERDAY IN NASHUA, NH - BY ANDI CARD

" As usual the turn out of people was fantastic for John McCain coming back to New Hampshire, which as much as N.H. love's John
McCain he calls N.H. his second home.

John knows that the people of New Hampshire love him, trust his judgment, along with the fact when he speaks you know he is sincere in what he is saying.

This town hall meeting was somewhat different then the others as now Senator McCain has secret service traveling with him all the time so the security was tight.

Before we could even go inside we had to wait outside for well over an hour, now that John McCain has secret service traveling with him the security was tight. The agents went into the building to do a sweep with dogs before any of us were allowed inside.

We all waited outside the doors anxiously awaiting their okay to let us go inside the gym.
On entering the building we all had to take everything out of our pockets, go through security just as you would going through the airport. Because the alarm went off when I went through they used the wand on me, but let me go on in.

Just sitting on the grandstand as I was in the beginning you could see the secret service continuing to look around for any thing that might be unusual, they were all very pleasant, but also very alert for anything that might go wrong.

I was asked by Ashley who works for John McCain if I'd like to sit up on the stage, I thought about it for a few minutes then with the encouragement from another person there decided what the heck might never get a chance to again so decided to sit on the stage, I sat in the back row.

We were instructed by one of the secret service agents we were not to cross the back line, and once sitting there we were not to move or get up for any reason. He also told us that we were not to reach out for John McCain's hand, if he reached his hand out to us we could then shake hands with him otherwise we were told not to reach out to the Senator at all. Very different then it ever was before whenever John McCain was here in N.H.

John Sununu a N.H. Congressmen spoke, along with Charlie Bass who use to be Senator, and Warren Rudman all from N.H. Sununu is running for re-election and both Bass and Rudman are retired from the Senate.

Senator Rudman introduced John McCain after Senator Sununu gave him the thumbs up that John McCain had in fact arrived.

On entering the gym, as usual the crowd went crazy seeing John McCain back in New Hampshire as he got a standing ovation which lasted for some time, we love John McCain.

When John started speaking he first made reference to many of the dignitaries from N.H. that were in the audience, such as Senator Sununu, Senator Rudman, Senator Bass, along with Governor Walter Peterson retired now, but very well respected in N.H. In fact Governor Peterson is 80 now, but still looks great, along with being upbeat at all times, honored also when John mentioned his name he stood up, with the crowd applauding. After John spoke briefly he then took questions from the audience, which were really some great questions and nothing easy for John McCain to answer, he got some tough questions.

I was hoping to see the Senator and speak with him as he was leaving but of course with the secret service now traveling with him, I could not get anywhere near him at all, they kept us all back."

FYI, Charlie Bass is the former Representative from the Second District and never served in the Senate.
