Candidate in JP District Files 1,400 petition signatures
PHOENIX - Clancy Jayne, the former legislator, Eagle Scout and former radio talk show host, filed 1,400 signatures today, the first day that nominating petitions are being accepted, to become an official candidate for Justice of the Peace.
These signatures will qualify him as a JP candidate in the Sept. 2 Republican primary in the newly formed District Ridge District.
Among his priorities as JP are the following:
• To ensure that his court helps to protect and secure our borders.
• To protect the community from criminal activity.
• To use rehabilitation programs that can demonstrate an ability to change criminal behavior.
• To recognize and protect the rights of victims to obtain restitution and justice.
• To improve the efficiency of the Justice Court in Maricopa County.
Mr. Jayne, who served as Co-Chair of the House Transportation Committee, brings more than a quarter century of public service to the “People’s Court.”
This service includes times on The Deer Valley Village Planning Committee and a six-year stint as Chair of North Gateway Village Committee.
He also served as chairman of the Maricopa County Planning and Zoning Commission, helped to found the North Valley Partnership and served on the YMCA Board of Governors and Board of Directors, WESTMARC, the Arizona Association of Economic Development and several other groups.
During his tenure as a Scout Master in Costa Mesa, Calif., his troop helped more than 100 young men earn the prestigious Eagle Scout designation.
He currently is the owner of Clancy Jayne Consulting, a firm that specializes in helping developers bring new and affordable housing to market, including infill projects that reduce desert sprawl and improve planning efficiency. Besides his legislative service he owned Reliable Contractor and Warehouse, a business he operated successfully for more than nine years in Phoenix.
