October 14th: Anatomy of Political Polls
November 12th: Post Election Wrap-Up
Mark you calendar for the May 13 luncheon to hear what the legislative leadership plans to do to solve the $2 billion dollar deficit for FY 2009. Arizona has the largest percentage deficit of any state in the country. What's in store for 2009? Budget cuts, bonding, state employee layoffs, tax increases, more rollovers? Also listen to their ideas on how to keep Arizona revenues from the roller coaster years of peaks and valleys. What do they see for 2010 and beyond?
These difficult questions will be discussed Tuesday May 13th by the House and Senate Leadership. Save the date and please RSVP today to reserve your seat at this most interesting meeting.
Sincerely,
Peggy Rubach -Executive Director

Lawmakers and Gov. Napolitano finally hammered out a budget for 2008 late in the session, between the rock of falling revenues and the hard place of a worsening picture for 2009.
The 2008 agreement drained part of the rainy day fund, moved bills back rather than paying them, and didn't come together until the passing months reduced the effects of the changes. So 2009 looks like 2008, except exponentially tougher.
Our distinguished panel discussing these issues consists of:
Senate President: The Honorable Tim Bee, Senate Assistant Minority Leader: The Honorable Jorge Garcia, House Speaker: The Honorable Jim Weiers, House Minority Leader: The Honorable Phil Lopes
This promises to be a great discussion. RSVP today to reserve your seat!
