Phoenix, AZ – Arizona Republican Party Chairman Randy Pullen said Senator Barack Obama’s elitist attack on rural Americans matched the record of Arizona’s freshmen Democrat representatives Harry Mitchell (D-5) and Gabrielle Giffords (D-8) and said the three were “out of touch” with Arizona voters.
Pullen’s comments came in response to incendiary remarks made last week by presidential hopeful Barack Obama, junior U.S. Senator from Illinois, and what Pullen described as a disappointing silence from Arizona Democrats and their failure to repudiate them.
“Just as troubling as Obama’s comments, is Mitchell’s and Giffords’ lack of leadership, voice, and involvement in their own party,” Pullen said.
“By allowing Senator Obama’s remarks to go unanswered, they are showing their true colors and demonstrating that they are indeed all out of touch with the individuals and families of our great state.”

“Barack Obama seems to think that honest, hard-working,
salt-of-the-earth Americans who deeply believe in God, who deeply believe in
their families and who deeply believe in the U.S. Constitution are ‘bitter’ and
out of touch,” Pullen said. “Barack Obama is wrong.”

“Harry Mitchell and Gabrielle Giffords long ago abandoned their
campaign promises to reduce taxes, promote fiscal responsibility, secure our
borders, and lower gas prices,” Pullen commented. “Their voting records
speak for themselves.”
