Help Support General Petraeus and Our Troops

A Cause Worthy of Your Support

As a Member of the House Armed Services Committee, I had the opportunity to witness General David Petraeus's testimony last September on the status of our mission in Iraq.

In his testimony before our Committee, General Petraeus provided vital information about the coalition's progress in Iraq, and about the war effort as a whole. However, leftist organizations, such as MoveOn.org and the New York Times, managed to take a great deal of the focus off of General Petraeus's crucial report with vicious and sensationalist assaults on his character. These attacks included an offensive and erroneous newspaper ad that intended to portray this leader as a liar and a traitor to his country.

I am not alone in saying that I was appalled by their actions. Yet I was even more disgusted by the failure of many of my Democrat colleagues to condemn these malicious attacks. In fact, many of the same Congressmen and women echoed Moveon.org and the New York Times in their public and unabashed questioning of this leader and American hero's integrity.

That's why I'm
encouraging you to click here to show your support for General Petraeus.

This week, General Petraeus will return to Congress once again to report on the coalition's progress in Iraq. And as before, I am afraid that anti-military groups like MoveOn.org and Code Pink will try to vilify him and distract from his message of progress and hope.
In response to these attacks, I would like to present the General with a petition that includes signatures and comments from citizens who support both our efforts in Iraq and the men and women in uniform who are currently making such immense sacrifices for victory. We must show solidarity behind our heroic military and make our voices of hope and support louder and stronger than those of the radical anti-war groups. We must illustrate that the efforts of the military in this successful surge have not gone unnoticed. We must proclaim that it would be undeniably disastrous for our national security to retreat and inhumane to leave the Iraqi people in the hands of the brutal and violent Islamic jihadists.

Please click here and sign the petition
so that we can show General Petraeus and all of our heroes in uniform that we support them and their courageous fight for the future of Iraq and the safety of our great nation.
