Giffords Breaks Promise to Not Be “Beholden” to Her Party,Asks Liberal House Speaker Pelosi for Help Raising Campaign Cash
Washington– Despite Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ (D-AZ) campaign pledge that she wouldn’t be “beholden to [her] party leadership,” Giffords has invited liberal Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Arizona for a high-dollar fundraiser to prop up her campaign. When Giffords was elected to Congress, she promised the voters of Arizona that she would be “an independent voice for [her] district.”
However since taking office, Giffords has voted in tandem with Nancy Pelosi 92 percent of the time.
This weekend, Nancy Pelosi is sweeping into Tucson in hopes that she can help return Giffords’ loyal backing to Washington.
Gabby Giffords has abandoned her “independent voice” mantra in exchange for Pelosi’s pocketbook. So far, liberal Washington leaders have already contributed $100,000 to Giffords’ campaign, and given the successful rate of return in loyalty, it appears their investment in Giffords won’t stop in anytime soon.
“With a near identical voting record to Nancy Pelosi, Gabrielle Giffords can no longer claim to be an ‘independent voice’ for Arizona with a straight face,” said NRCC spokesman Ken Spain.
“Giffords’ support for the San Francisco Speaker’s agenda of
broken borders, higher taxes and runaway spending are proof that she is earning
her keep in the eyes of Nancy Pelosi.”Despite her campaign promises, Gabrielle
Giffords has clearly become “beholden” to her Democrat leaders in
Washington. Nancy Pelosi’s weekend fundraiser is a clear indication that
Giffords is willing to make the serve at Nancy Pelosi’s beckoned call if it
means that she gets to line her campaign coffers with campaign
cash.
