HOW THE FAR RIGHT IS LOSING IT (yeah you Malkin,Li,Limbaugh,Tanton and on and on and on)
Written by SJ ReidheadOnce upon a time everyone made fun of Al Gore for being a little upset when he lost the Florida recount. My how things change, yet stay the same. Only this time, the sore losers are the very ones who made the most fun of Al Gore. It is a wonder they do not demand a recount. They are such bad sports and all around spoiled brats I would not be shocked if someone did not suggest it. After all, John McCain does not appeal to the Republican (read “conservative”) base. Why? Well, Rush Limbaugh hates John McCain, so no non-thinking conservative (read Republican) could possibly betray Rush Limbaugh, think for themselves, and vote for John McCain. A vote for John McCain is a vote for Lindsey Graham. They are both evil and must be destroyed or the sun will explode and the universe as we know it will come to an end.Has anyone noticed how very gracious Rudy Giuliani was today with John McCain. Have you noticed how Fred Thompson has not been so gracious. I think it speaks loudly about conservatives, doesn't it?THE BIGGEST LOSER
Okay, I’m gloating. The biggest loser of them all is Rush Limbaugh. The 2nd biggest loser is Michelle Malkin. Then all the other little losers: Ann Coulter, Rich Lowry, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity…LOSER LOSER LOSERI have a really good idea, why not behave like the little conservative lemmings we all know you are and follow Rush Limbaugh over a cliff. Oh, wait, you’re already doing that.Cool!
Jay Cost has a fascinating RCP blog about how John McCain won Florida. It is interesting, but I think the thing he is missing is the fact that the Rush Limbaugh – Michelle Malkin coalition of radio-listening far right conservative bloggers voted for Mitt Romney, but did not have large enough numbers to win. It proves what I have been saying for years THESE PEOPLE DO NOT REPRESENT THE BASE OF THE GOP!
When people behave they way they have and are, they cannot be allowed to win and to control an agenda that has nothing to do with conservative. I love the way they lie – yes Ed, LIE, canard, mendacity, prevaricate GET THAT ED? They are lying about Mitt Romney’s not so conservative record as the Governor of Massachusetts and completely mis-representing John McCain’s record in the Senate. It’s called not telling the truth. Fr. Penn would say that was a lie. This is one of those posts that is so disjointed. I have no earthly idea where to begin there is so much over-the-top material available.
Roger Simon is calling it McCain Derangement Syndrome. I fear that his assessment is charitable. I like Simon, who tries to maintain an intellectual honesty, and doesn't mind stating that when Romney was a governor he was typical North East Liberal. Why is John McCain accused of being so liberal when Mitt Romney is 'guilty' of things Big Mac is accused of doing but is basically innocent? Is it the fact that if you repeat a lie long enough people, including those repeating it begin to believe it?Are we dealing with something else indeed?
I come from a political family (all but my sister) where politics, like religion, is a spectator sport. Even when I was a little kid I was expected to listen to the news and be able to discuss the world political at dinner time. I just thought of something. All of this is my parents' fault! I was just a little kid, but my father expected me to discuss the long-term political implications of the Kennedy assassination. Consequently, I do not understand the immature ire our various conservatives are showing toward McCain. Conservatives are acting like sore losers. They make fun of Al Gore, but this tirade from Rush Limbaugh was so far over the top it is almost laughable.“…There was a lot of anxiety among a lot of conservatives about Senator McCain. It's simply indisputable. But there was no figure in our roster of candidates who rose up to challenge him or galvanize conservative support.
All the candidates on our side, for various reasons, are uninspiring or worse -- and so, just as I predicted, the base has fractured. Some going here, some going there. Senator McCain's been able to cobble together enough votes to win in a few states. Fine. He deserves credit for that. But to pretend that Senator McCain is the choice of conservatives when exit poll data from every primary state show just the opposite... He is not the choice of conservatives, as opposed to the choice of the Republican establishment -- and that distinction is key. The Republican establishment, which has long sought to rid the party of conservative influence since Reagan, is feeling a victory today as well as our friends in the media. But both are just far-fetched and wrong. …”
Flopping AcesAnyone but McCain - the ad.THE CROMWELLIAN CONSERVATIVES ATTACK
John Marshall Talking Points Memo“…First is the mini-GOP civil war as the right-wing establishment elites go after McCain with attack ads like this one being rolled out now by David Bossie's Citizens United. Then there's the spate of seizures from folks like Rush Limbaugh as they either go insane or try to eat their words and cozy up to McCain. Then we'll have McCain trying to suck up to the Rush types. So it's not all a loss. One thing though, that has sort of congealed in my mind as I've watched the race moving over the last couple weeks. John McCain has picked up a number of endorsements recently from Republican officeholders.
And I think that's kind of the key. McCain doesn't do badly at all with Republican officeholders, and that means, significantly, people who look forward to the prospect of running with him at the top of their ticket. Where McCain is extremely unpopular is among what you'd probably call professional conservatives -- talk radio hounds, full-time activists, heads of the major organizations, conservative opinion journalists, etc. I really think that's the division here….”
Much of this is due to the lie Rush Limbaugh and his syncopates are promoting about the Gang of 14.Richard Baehr has an excellent article in American Thinker“…To put it plainly, the critics of the deal are flat out wrong. Conservatives should thank John McCain and the other Senators who were part of the Gang of 14 for getting three Appeals Court nominees who had been held up, Janice Rogers Brown, William Pryor, and Priscilla Owen, approved quickly and Brett Kavanaugh approved a bit later, and for Samuel Alito making it onto the Supreme Court without a filibuster blocking his way. And they should thank John McCain for preserving for the Republican Party the use of the filibuster on judicial nominations that might be made by a Democratic President beginning in 2009 or later…”Sphere: Related Content
