Former Naval aviator John McCain joins the Florida air campaign Monday, with a statewide TV buy enough for “saturation” coverage — although, a McCain advisor allows, not as saturating as rival Mitt Romney’s. McCain’s purchase will be numerous enough for the typical viewer to see 10 to 15 of his ads in the week through the following Monday, while Romney’s ads are frequent enough to see at least 15 to 23 of them.McCain starts a nine-day tour of the state leading up to the Jan. 29 primary, coming off his narrow win in South Carolina Saturday.
He is scheduled to leave Florida only once in that period, for a fundraiser Tuesday evening in New York City. Pre-South Carolina polls showed him with a slim, within-the-margin of error lead in Florida. New Florida numbers are expected early this week.
McCain plans to campaign in Miami and Jacksonville Monday, in Pensacola and Fort Walton Beach Tuesday, Orlando Wednesday and West Palm Beach on Thursday before the Republican candidates participate in a nationally televised debate at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton Thursday night.
