Mani (Mainstream): Modi, did you go down to Basra to see the handover from the British to our own army and police forces?
Modi (Moderate): No. I feel a little ambivalent about it. In one sense I am pleased that the British are going, but in another sense I don’t know if our army and police forces are ready for the task without help. Remember, the Iraqi government has a history of corruption.
Radi (Radical): It will now make it very easy for our insurgents to attack your so-called forces and take Basra back for Allah.
Modi: Allah has nothing to do with this, Radi. This matter is strictly a nationalist affair. It is bad enough that we have to muddle through managing that area without your nitwits upsetting everything again.
Radi: Ha! This is now the first step in taking Iraq back! We will behead everyone who gets in our way. They will spend eternity in the fiery pit, and we will laugh. We will kill everyone not with us!
Mani: Radi, doesn’t your country mean anything to you?
Radi: The entire world means something to me. It belongs to Allah and all who are not believers do not belong in it, except as slaves. We will take it back for its rightful owner—Allah. Taking Basra back is the first step.
Modi: You do not have Basra yet. We do not know whether our army and police forces are up to the task of defending it, but we will see. Perhaps the people will help as they did in Anbar.
Radi: Bah! Al-Qaeda and others simply left Iraq because we knew the U.S. forces would run away and we could walk right back in and start killing all the officials and the people who supported them. Every finger that touched the purple will be cut off before the head is removed from the shoulders.
Modi: You are not telling the truth about al-Qaeda, and you know and I know that the American forces do not run.
Radi: It does not matter who is in power there. We have Allah on our side, along with squadrons of angels.
Mani: You just keep believing that, Radi. (To Modi, quietly) He has a point, Modi. After all, squadrons of angels did help defeat the Meccans.
Modi: The squadrons of angels, Radi, were the exhortations of our Most Beloved and the power of faith. The believers had faith that if they were killed in battle they would go to Paradise immediately and their families would be given their share of the booty from the raids or the battles. The Meccans fought well, but they were not foolhardy—they believed they had but one life and were not going to waste it by fighting wildly.
Radi: None of that matters now, even though you are wrong. You will see us take back this entire country for Allah.
Modi: If you take it back, it will not be for Allah; it will be for Iran.
Radi: What? How can you say that? We fight for Allah! No infidels will survive our onslaught!
Modi: You may think you are. Where did you get the weapons? Iran. Where do you get the roadside bombs? Iran. Where do the fighters go to escape the Americans? Iran. When you look at so-called foreign fighters, who are they? Hizbullah. Look around the entire area of Basra, Radi, and tell me whom you see. Iran wants Iraq, and they were the ones bankrolling the antigovernment fighters. Can't you see that?
Radi: None of that means anything! (He is now red faced with anger) WE WILL TAKE BACK THIS ENTIRE WORLD FOR ALLAH! We will remember people like you who try to stand in Allah's way. You will burn in hell for all eternity!
Modi: You say WE. Do you have a frog in your pocket or something? Radi, you and your kind do not do anything but ruin and destroy. Your kind does not build much at all—and those places you do put up are drab, unimaginative, and crude. With the exception of some oil-rich monarchs, tyrants, and cronies, the people’s lives have not improved since the seventh century.
Radi: See how you think? You act as if life is permanent. It is not! In fact, it is best if you can leave this earth as soon as possible.
Modi: You are so wrapped up in killing and death; you have no sense for living and enjoying life. You do not love your fellow man; you hate him and are suspicious of every word, action, and motive. What other type of nation would even consider building separate sidewalks to segregate women from men? Just this morning Fox News reported a Pakistani living in Canada strangled his 16-year-old daughter to death for not wearing her headscarf to school. Her brother set up the killing. What kind of hatred does a man have who can look his young daughter in the eyes and strangle her to death? Radi, that is monstrous! And what brother would hate his sister enough to deliver her into the hands of the killer? Radi, You know that the hijab is not required by the Qur'an.
Radi: See, you do not understand! He has proved his love for Allah and His laws, as Abraham had shown his love. Satan caused his daughter to remove her hijab on the way to school. Her father was right to kill her for sinning and causing dishonor to his family! If he had other daughters, he would let them watch their sister being killed so violently; they would now know not to sin. Her brother was heroic in bringing his sister to her rightful death!
Modi: Ninety-nine percent of your world would not agree with you, Radi. Daughters are precious. Sons are precious. Life is precious. I say again, the hijab is not required by the Qur'an. The daughter was killed, strangled for nothing!
Radi: Bah! I kill and kill and die for Allah! Allahu akbar!
Mani: I am not sure that Radi is wrong.
Modi: You had better make up your mind. Remember, Radi says that the people who are not 100 percent with the radicals are against them and deserve to die just like the infidels. I would rather die for something I believed strongly than for something I didn’t.
Mani: I for one would never hurt my daughter, but how can I condemn that other father for doing what he believed was right? You say it is not in the Qur'an; how many of our people really know the Qur'an? He did what he believed was right!
Modi: You yourself and anyone who has a family and wants to have a family must determine for themselves no matter what anyone said 1300 years ago in a different world, what is right and what is wrong. Look into the faces of your family when you ask that question. Go outside your home and look up and down the street at your neighbors. Do they deserve to die because of what someone believes someone else meant 1300 years ago when language was not so advanced as it is now?
Mani: Say what you want. I believe in the Qur'an and the Hadiths. You know that the Qur'an was given to Muhammad (pbuh) by Allah to present to all humankind, who are now responsible for its contents and the Sharia's. Perhaps I must become more pious.
Modi (Moderate): No. I feel a little ambivalent about it. In one sense I am pleased that the British are going, but in another sense I don’t know if our army and police forces are ready for the task without help. Remember, the Iraqi government has a history of corruption.

It is true that the last America
election brought in the Surrender Party. However, considering their
demonstrated inability to govern, along with their incessant lying and cheating,
I just cannot see the Americans re-electing them.
Radi: It does not matter who is in power there. We have Allah on our side, along with squadrons of angels.

Yes, Modi, perhaps we must all become more pious. Lunch, Radi?
