Series On Islam: "THREE FACES EAST Part 62" - By HJS

Mani (Mainstream): Modi, I have an important question for you. My cousin has a little daughter, and it is their tribe’s tradition to seek a betrothal before age twelve. The last three attempts were affirmative; however, in each case they would not agree unless the girl was circumcised. They said she was not pure until circumcised.

Modi (Moderate): I take it from what you have said that the girl was not circumcised.

Mani: Right. Her tribe does not do that.

Modi: But if her tribe does not do that, is she marrying outside the tribe? Is she marrying a nonrelative?

Mani: Yes. The tribe has been bereft of men since so many had been killed, joined the insurgents, or emigrated to Europe. There are some families with sons in Europe that have asked for brides, but there is no interest in one so young because of European marriage laws.

Modi: I have news for you and them, Mani. Those marriage laws are almost universal now. Very few countries now allow marriages for girls under 18.

Radi (Radical): We should wipe those infidels out and replace all their laws with the Sharia. I know how to deal with them.

Modi: Good morning to you too, Radi. Glad to see you are alive and chipper. Perhaps chipper is not the right word.

Mani, what you are talking about is called female genital mutilation (FGM). There are three different forms of FGM, not any of them of any benefit to anyone, least of all the person undergoing the procedure.

Radi: You must mean female circumcision, Modi. It is commanded by the Qur’an, and you MUST do it to all females.

Modi: See what we are up against, Mani? Radi, It is not in the Qur’an, and it is not approved in any way by our religion. I happen to have an idea where the notion came from; however, you will not find it in the Qur’an.

Radi: Ha! Our Most Beloved said to a midwife not to cut too deep because it will be better for the husband. I remember it from the Qur’an.

Modi: You have it wrong again. First, it was not from the Qur’an, but from the Hadiths of Dawud. Second, as Dawud himself admits, it is a very weak Hadith because of authentication, and it cannot be used as a source of law
[1]. Besides, even if it were truly authenticated, though it was not prohibited by our Most Beloved, it certainly was not encouraged.

Radi: You must have it wrong. The Qur’an says that circumcising women makes them pure, more loyal to their husbands, better looking, and it calms them down and lets them tend to their duties.

Mani: You are a male chauvinist, you know that? Everything for you and nothing for them. Why don’t you ask females what THEY think? They are the ones who must endure that barbarous procedure.

Radi: Who cares what they think? We have been given the strength and intelligence to rule over women.

Modi: Radi, none of what you say about FGM is true. FGM actually predates Islam and is a practice from the days of chaos and corruption. Many of the early Muslims discovered it during their escape to Ethiopia in the seventh century. Men were afraid then that when they reached old age, since they married younger women and girls, they would not be able to match their wives’ sex drives.
[2] Well too bad for those “dirty old men.”

Nevertheless, most Muslims do not practice this so-called right of passage for females. I certainly would not want any daughter of mine to undergo such a monstrous, unnecessary ritual. And if any person suggested I do it, I will punch out his lights.

Mani: Radi, how can any father or mother do such a terrible thing to their little girls?

Radi: BECAUSE IT IS THEIR DUTY! Their daughters must be pure for marriage.

Mani: How about their sons?

Radi: Yes, the girls must be pure to marry our sons! We do not want our sons to be marrying just anybody. Those fine specimens of humanity are too gullible to choose right. We must choose for them to ensure they are getting the best women from their own families.

Modi: Eventually, Radi, we will all be inbred and running around like jackasses.

Mani: Some of our sons are already doing that. We have a wonderful opportunity in Europe to have our sons choose European wives. That definitely brings in newer blood and will strengthen our bloodlines.

Modi: Not quite, Mani. We allow our sons to marry European women, and most of them convert to Islam. But we do not allow our daughters to marry European men; in fact, we kill them even if they only talk about it.

Radi: European men should not have control over Muslim women. Besides, the man should control the religion, not the wife.

Mani: Male chauvinist! What a dolt.

Modi: The old beards back here said the same thing about jobs. They said that Muslims must not work for non-Muslim masters. Why do those jerks think Muslims went to Europe and America? They wanted freedom and jobs. They did not care about who owned the businesses; of course the Europeans were the bosses—it was Europe! The people who believe these stupid busybodies here had to go on welfare and gave the people of Europe the wrong impression. I for one am glad the police threw a lot of them back.

Mani: I can see that. It is good that some of our people are getting ahead. Even the UK, I read, is opening up new opportunities for education and business ownership. In addition, Scotland is looking for about 30,000 new workers.

Modi: See, Radi, when they shut down people like you, everybody starts moving ahead. You folks are the bottlenecks.

Radi: Oh, yeah? We are going to slice your neck and put your head in a bottle. We will.

Mani: Careful, Radi, it is Modi’s turn to buy lunch today.

Modi: And we have a new restaurant opening near your place.

Radi: You know what? I hear the
adhan, Bilal is calling.

Mani: We have to hurry a little to complete wudu first.
