Mitchell backs earmarks over intel bill
Tempe, AZ – Harry Mitchell showed his true liberal colors Tuesday night when he voted against stripping the Intelligence Authorization Act of all taxpayer-funded pork projects.
Despite Harry’s wishes, though, taxpayers scored a victory when the motion passed the House 249-160. [Roll Call 1125; http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2007/roll1125.xml]
Congressional District 5 candidate and former State Representative Laura Knaperek said Mitchell’s vote was a look at the “real Harry Mitchell.”
Knaperek is a consistent fiscal conservative, having shepherded the largest income tax rate cut in state history through the Arizona Legislature. She has also endorsed Congressman John Shadegg’s Reagan 21 program and pledged never to support earmark spending when elected to Congress.

Congressional District 5 candidate and former State Representative Laura Knaperek said Mitchell’s vote was a look at the “real Harry Mitchell.”
Knaperek said.
“This vote is a scary sneak preview of what two more years of Harry in
the House would look like,”
“When given a chance to pass a clean bill to give the intelligence community
the tools they need to secure our country, Harry instead decided to divert
taxpayer dollars to fund pork-barrel projects.”
Knaperek is a consistent fiscal conservative, having shepherded the largest income tax rate cut in state history through the Arizona Legislature. She has also endorsed Congressman John Shadegg’s Reagan 21 program and pledged never to support earmark spending when elected to Congress.
“Unlike Harry Mitchell and Nancy Pelosi, I believe taxpayer dollars shouldKnaperek said.
be handled with the utmost transparency,”
“When I’m elected to Congress, I will never support pork-barrel
spending.”
