It's now one month until the presidential election really gets under way, as Iowa and New Hampshire will make their choices and begin influencing voters in the states that follow.
And after a bumpy summer — filled with an unpopular immigration bill and campaign mismanagement — John McCain has caught some wind again, if not a clear slam dunk in any early state polling.
An article in the Economist, a news magazine, urges Republicans to "take another look at Arizona's senior senator."
"Mr. McCain is such a familiar figure that it is easy to forgetthe article says, pointing to his military experience and backing of unpopular causes.
how remarkable he is,"
The article follows what the Economist calls a "ringing" endorsement in the New Hampshire Union Leader.
More good news for McCain: His national numbers have now moved ahead of Mitt Romney's and Fred Thompson's.
But another test remains — rebuilding support in his home state, where McCain's support slipped this fall.
In an interview this week, fellow Sen. Jon Kyl said he'll be here to help.
"We're working on a plan to ensure he wins the state of Arizona," Kyl said. "That's my job."
