HJS Commentary: The al Durah scandal By Melanie Phillips

Remember the name al-Durah.
Muhammad al-Durah was/is the name of the child who, according to a well-known video, was ostensibly killed while hiding behind a barrel with his father. Most journalists on scene know about the fraudulent video, but do not care and say nothing. It was great copy for them and caused more virulent emotions against Israel, and by extension, the United States.

A court battle is in progress, see Melanie's new article about that, and some folks want the scandal brought out into the open once and for all--because it never happened. However, even if the entire video is surrendered and shown, not too many European or Eastern news people will see it or bother reading about it. There is no value in a news story that does not fit their agenda. Their agenda, of course, is to discredit Israel.

Some of these news people do not care if a story is not true. We have already seen that in several cases, even here at home we have seen such outrageous reporting from ABC and CBS. The BBC has no credibility in Iraq and Afghanistan, their bias is so outrageous. They are not news people, they are just a new breed of the Paul Joseph Goebbels syndrome: if it does not feed your hate and make others hate what you hate, it is not worth telling. Truth is what you can enduce people to believe. If the news people and their employers cannot shake loose of these failures, what sense is their in reading print newspapers or watching ABC, CBS, or NBC? As far as I am concerned, I see only one program on CNN worth watching any more. But, let Melanie fill you in on the latest outrage.
