The 1st Place Arizona Diamondbacks won their 70th game tonight vs. the Atlanta Braves. Brandon Webb, last year's NL Cy Young Award Winner, threw his 3rd consecutive shutout. He has a streak of 42 consecutive innings pitched without giving up a run (ML Record is 59 innings by Orel Hershiser of the LA Dodgers back in 1988).
2 more complete game shutouts and Webb has the record. This young, exciting D'Back team has a 4 game lead in the NL West. It's a bit early to think Playoffs, but this team has the best record in the NL since the All Star break. If the pitching holds up & the youngsters continue to improve, this team has an excellent chance to be playing in October.
