From the 'Arizona Republic':

Voter registration statewide inched up 1.5 percent in the past three months, with non-affiliated voters leading in terms of percentage gain.

However, Republicans remain the dominant party in Arizona, with 1,023,508 voters as of July 1, according to statistics from the Arizona Secretary of State. They were followed by Democrats with 873,301 voters, "other" (mostly independents) with 733,852 and Libertarians at 18,706.

Voters categorized as "other" gained 2.9 percent from April 1 to July 1, followed by the Democrats at 1.7 percent, Libertarians at 0.5 percent and Republicans at 0.4 percent.Secretary of State Jan Brewer predicted a bump in specific party registrations as the presidential-primary elections approach. Those registered as "other" are not allowed to vote in presidential primaries, in contrast to statewide primaries.

Brewer estimated 70 percent of the state's eligible voters are registered.
