Gonzo gets the boot from the D-Backs...
All Star Left Fielder Luis Gonzalez was given his walking papers yesterday by the Diamondbacks. Gonzalez, the 2001 World Series hero and Arizona sports Icon, was told the D-Backs would not exercise their option for 2007. He was not even given the chance to discuss playing for a reduced rate (which his agent said they would). Gonzo is a pillar of our community; this man has worked on behalf of many chairities here and in 2004, helped President George W. Bush in his campaign. Just recently, Gonzales came out in support of our fine Sen. Jon Kyl. I salute Luis Gonzales for all his hard work and dedication to Arizona. In my opinion, this is a BAD PR move by the D-Backs and may come back to haunt them. After his playing days are over, I think that Gonzo may make a mark in Arizona politics....can you say Governor Gonzo?
