They love me! They really, really love me! ... Gov.
Jan Brewer's social-media numbers are through the roof, according to
TrendPo, which tracks gubernatorial coverage and trending. A recent report shows
that Brewer's buzz factor was right up with that of New Jersey Gov. Chris
Christie during the Hurricane Sandy tragedy.
According to the Oct. 30 report, Christie's social-media ranking
rose based on news coverage from the hurricane. Brewer's ranking was similar
even though she barely got any mentions in the national or Beltway press the
week of the survey.
According to TrendPo, it's Brewer's social-media numbers that keep
her popular: Each day, she's adding thousands of mentions on Facebook as well as
Twitter followers. The website says her posts speak to her base and therefore
keep her popular on social media.
"We point this out to show that even though your candidate or incumbent may
not be in the national news cycle, they can still create buzz in the social
atmosphere," TrendPo writes.
"Governor Jan Brewer and her team is one of the best at maximizing her social media."
As of Friday, Brewer's Facebook page had 527,700 likes, and 73,124 posts mentioned her. By comparison, Christie's page had 87,238 likes with 10,837 posts about him.
