John McCain told FOX News on Wednesday that he has not made a decision on a running mate, splashing cold water on speculation that he would announce his No. 2 pick while Barack Obama is traveling overseas.
The presumptive GOP presidential nominee told “Hannity & Colmes” that he’s looking for a candidate who shares similar priorities and who he feels is capable of taking over for him.
But he said he has not made a final decision.
“We’ve said exactly the same thing all along — that we’ll make the
decision when we make it,” McCain added.
McCain also continued to hammer Obama for downplaying the impact of the troop surge in Iraq.
“No rational person could look at the situation in Iraq on the ground that’s been there two years ago and say that the surge hasn’t succeeded, so it’s clear to me there must be political calculations in his judgment, because no rational observer could conclude anything else,” McCain told FOX News.
