RUSSELL PEARCE'S ZOMBIE'S! - BY MIKE TRIGGS

Say goodbye to the Twilight series inspired Vampire and Werewolf Halloween costumes…they are so last year. This year’s favorite is - Zombie apparel. In fact, industry analysts have estimated over 2.5 million men, women, boys and girls dressed up as Zombies for weekend parties or to go out Trick or Treating.

The trend doesn’t surprise me because I’ve been seeing lots of them in Mesa where a pack of well-coached Zombies, dead in features, totally devoid of any sense of humor, mechanical in action, bereft of consciousness have been listlessly lining up to vote for Russell Pearce in next Tuesday’s recall election.

You can’t accuse these folks of having an open mind. No way, now how!

It doesn’t seem to faze these Zombies that their hero’s family and principal supporters had to stoop to recruiting and getting a sham candidate on the recall ballot to dilute the vote. They could care less that this sham candidate didn’t know who paid to get her on the ballot, didn’t know who was sending out her press-releases or who put up the campaign signs bearing the United Farm Workers slogan, “Sí, se puede”.

Come on, these Zombies will believe anything. Tell them the opponent stole clothing off the backs of homeless kids or that the opponent is masquerading as Judas’ Goat. You might as well be reciting the Gospel according to Russell.

Tell them enough times that LIBERAL outsiders are dropping a million dollars on the recall–and the lie registers.

It doesn’t matter that no one was able to find a single dollar in contributions from the DNC, Move-on.org, ACORN, Planned Parenthood, the Human Rights Fund, PETA, the Sierra Club, the American Civil Liberties Union, NARAL and the Gun Control freaks that want to take away our guns.

Ignore the facts like: Less than 5% of Pearce’s money came from within his Legislative District and that less than 9% came from within Mesa, or that more than 20% came from out-of-state donors.

Contrast that with the fact that 46% of Jerry Lewis’ support came from within LD18 and 68% came from Mesa

Facts, facts…. Zombies don’t need no stinking facts. Not when they are hypnotized and marching in lockstep to a beat of “SB 1070… SB 1070…SB 1070”.

Fortunately, Zombies are just a myth. Their power is really over-rated. And their Omnipotent leaders days are numbered.

The turnout kind of tells the story of events to come. Russell Pearce, and his pack of well-coached Zombies are yesterday’s story.

There may have been a day when Russell Pearce could have filled the 13,000-seat Hohokum Stadium. But that was last year.  If you follow politics at all, you know how embarrassing it must have been to been a lifetime public servant, the President of the Arizona Senate, the author of SB 1070 and you could only manage to turn out a pitiful crowd of 300 of your family, closest friends and well-oiled lobbyists.

Wes Gullett: Leadership in tough times - Ahwatukee Foothills News

Voters in Ahwatukee and all across Phoenix will decide on Nov. 8 who should lead our city during some very challenging times. Phoenix's next mayor needs to be a leader who can challenge the status quo and bring jobs to Phoenix - and Ahwatukee residents could very well be the voters who decide which of the two candidates before us are right for the job.
For me, there's no question that Wes Gullett is the right man for these very difficult times. Gullett has an aggressive reform agenda and a Seven Point Jobs Plan that will bring jobs back to Phoenix.

He's a businessman and brings a wealth of experience in both the private and public sectors to clean up City Hall.

Gullett understands that in order to get Phoenix working again we need to reduce costs for small businesses and get government out of the way. That's why he's put forward a detailed plan to cut red tape so that small businesses, which are really the economic engine of Ahwatukee, can get off the ground as quickly as possible.

Safe neighborhoods are critical. The city has gone months without a police chief, and Gullett has promised to finally start the process of recruiting and hiring a new police chief. The current city leadership has dragged their feet on this process for way too long.

One of the biggest challenges before the new mayor will be restoring confidence in our city government. Gullett will do that.

He has a stellar reputation in this community. He's a man on honor and integrity. After some of the shenanigans we've seen over the years, I know that Gullett will always put his constituents before his own self-interests.

Campaign promises are great. But in order to be effective, it's critical that our mayor have the ability to bring people together. I've seen Gullet do that on a multitude of issues over the years. He knows how to work with people from different perspectives and find common ground.

I've know Gullett for many years. I've also known his opponent, Greg Stanton - and I like Stanton. He represented Ahwatukee on the City Council and is a good, decent man. But for me, at this critical time, Gullett is the candidate who truly will shake-up City Hall.

We can't afford to stay on the same direction we are right now. We need a mayor with the courage and determination to make the tough decisions now that will make our community safer, stronger and more prosperous.

Wes Gullett will be a great mayor and we finally bring the pride back to Phoenix. I urge you to vote for him on Nov. 8, or return your early ballot for him today. With a leader like Gullett, we'll make Phoenix the greatest city in America.

If you haven't voted yet in the Phoenix City Runoff Elections, YOU should!  This weeks vote by the City Council proves why we need WES GULLETT as our next Mayor!

Councilwoman THELDA WILLIAMS led the charge to throw out the 2% Sales Tax on Food!  The vote was 5 - 4 against with Mayor Phil Gordon voting NO!  Greg Stanton would have voted the same way.  But with Wes as Mayor, the Food Tax will be eliminated!

BOMBSHELL: Insolvent AZGOP gives 20% of cash-on-hand to Rob Haney’s pro- Russell Pearce IE group, Constantin Querard is beneficiary!

How would you spend your family’s emergency fund if you were more than $100,000 in debt with a pitiful income and no end in sight?

Would you:

A. Work with your creditors to pay down debts?
B. Cut all frills and use cash for food, utilities & shelter only?
C. Go to Mesa and drop 20% of the family jewels into Russell Pearce’s Constantin Querard’s pocket?

If you are Tom Morrissey, chairman of the Arizona Republican Party, you have to go with answer “C”.

The mandatory pre-recall finance report filed by Rob Haney’s independent expenditure group, MaricopaGOP to elect Russell Pearce, lists only one contribution from a political committee – a $6,000 gift from the Arizona Republican Party on October 14, 2011.

This is the same AZGOP that is $100,000+ in debt, showed only $33,000 cash-on-hand in its October FEC finance report and only $4,000 cash-on-hand in its latest financial disclosure to the Arizona Secretary of State.

Chairman Morrissey’s donation amounts to nearly 20% of available federal cash or 150% of available state cash. An arrogant and egregious move, Mr. Morrissey. Have you no shame or brain?

Considering that the AZGOP spends so much money on fundraising yet makes so little back in donations, this $6,000 is a slap in the face to all the small dollar, naïve donors who sent in a check to Morrissey for $10, $25 or $50.
Not surprising to insiders, the AZGOP neglected to submit a mandatory new finance report to the AZSOS before yesterday’s midnight deadline.

The party is required to file because they made a $6,000 contribution via Rob Haney to “elect Russell Pearce” in the recall election. The AZGOP is subject to a $50 penalty, per day, until it submits a new finance report – another waste of donor dollars.

Curiously, the party (intentionally?) neglected to update the AZSOS with the name and email of Chairman Morrissey. According to the AZSOS, all AZGOP finance correspondence is still sent to rpullen@azgop.org. After this week’s story on Pullen’s resurrection, it’s no surprise that he is still the face of the AZGOP’s financial fiasco.

The fiasco continues since Rob Haney’s IE group is as much a sham organization as Olivia Cortes was a candidate. The Maricopa County GOP is the sponsoring organization of Haney’s IE group and made just one expenditure through October 19, 2011 – $7,500 to Constantin Querard’s IE group, Arizona Deserves the Best.

Arizona Deserves the Best, in turn, paid Constantin Querard 72% of its $18,938 in expenditures – as reported Monday by Steven Lemons of the Phoenix New Times. CQ serves as a consultant and vendor of campaign products and services and is the mastermind of all things shady and repulsive about the AZGOP. The AZGOP's pro-bono attorney, Lee Miller, serves as CQ's treasurer.

In today’s Arizona Capitol Times, Querard said:

“Who’s going to give me a better price than me? It would cost my group more to go somewhere else.” Political consultant Constantin Querard, whose company was hired by an independent expenditure group he runs to produce mailers to benefit Senate President Russell Pearce.
Querard is lucky to have sugar daddies like Rob Haney and Tom Morrissey here in Arizona. Without big poppas, CQ would have to go back to the island, mon.

Russell Pearce's Chad Willems Worked for Group Opposing Mormon Temple in North Phoenix - By Stephen Lemons - Phoenix New Times - Feathered Bastard

Props to the ever-entertaining and informative Politoco Mafioso blog for scoring the following intriguing info concerning Summit Consulting's Chad Willems, state Senate President Russell Pearce's campaign manager.

Willems, of course, is not the only local GOP operative hustling to save Pearce's hide in the November 8 recall.

There's also Chuck "Brewer's Brain" Coughlin of High Ground Public Affairs, who pulls our governor's strings while shilling for private prisons giant Corrections Corporation of America.

And not to be overlooked is Constantin Querard, chairman of the pro-Pearce independent expenditure committee Arizona Deserves the Best and the man widely suspected of being the eminence greasy behind the sham candidacy of Olivia Cortes.

Interestingly, Willems has characterized Querard as "not the kind of guy I'd go and have a beer with," though they're certainly playing on the same wiffle ball team these days.

Hard to understand how Willems can look down his nose at CQ, as Willems shills for Maricopa County's as-yet-unindicted Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and once did so for likely-to-be-disbarred ex-county attorney Andrew Thomas.

Anyway, Politico Mafioso, which is of a conservative Republican bent (though not of the loony right variety), revealed that Willems did some work for the Phoenix Property Rights Coalition, a group that up until earlier this year was protesting and opposing the construction of a Mormon temple in North Phoenix.

For services rendered to the PPRC, Summit Consulting scored $32,486, according to a campaign finance report filed with the City of Phoenix.

Indeed, Willems did such a bang-up job gathering signatures for a petition to halt the project that the group's chairman Scott Anderson sings Willems' praises in a "testimonial" given on Summit's website.

Anderson writes:

"When our neighborhood concerns regarding a zoning change were ignored by our elected officials, we turned to Summit to help us refer the Phoenix City Council's decision to the ballot. In less than 20 days, Summit was able to supplement our volunteer signature effort by collecting almost 9,000 signatures from Phoenix residents.

"The City Clerk validated the signatures and certified the referendum which forced the City Council to reconsider and ultimately rescind the zoning change. Summit Consulting was professional, organized and thorough, delivering ahead of schedule and under budget. They exceeded our expectations."

The PPRC eventually came to an accord with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but not before raising a little Cain.

According to reports from both the Arizona Republic and Fox 10 news, protests of the temple site by activists involved a giant blow-up gorilla and a huge banner referring to the future house of worship as "the temple of ill will."

"We are going to keep protesting," Anderson told the Republic when it reported on the activists' hijinks. "Even if they go forward with building the temple, we will protest the groundbreaking, dedication ceremonies and any and every event that comes. We have neighbors who want to chain themselves to the bulldozer. We will ensure that the temple remains a sore spot with them and an example of what happens when they do not respect the concerns of the surrounding neighborhood."

As you might expect, many Mormons across the Valley were upset with these protests, and those in Legislative District 18 may not be too happy to discover that Pearce, who is LDS as is his recall rival Jerry Lewis, has employed a man who also worked closely with the PPRC and took a boatload of cash from the group.

I contacted Willems via Facebook. He told me that his involvement with the PPRC was merely as a signature-gatherer.

"That was a zoning case that had nothing to do with religion," he wrote. "It was an issue of architecture. The two parties resolved their differences and last I heard the Temple was under construction. I think the Lewis camp is desperate. And Jeff Vath should go back to playing World of Warcraft."
(SORRY TO GET YOUR PANTIES IN A WAD CHADLY, I DON'T PLAY "WORLD OF WARCRAFT".  BUT IF YOU WANT TO COME OVER & PLAY Wii "SPORTS RESORT GOLF" I WILL KICK YOUR ASS!)

Vath is the Republican whose blog Politico Mafioso broke the story, you see.

I asked Willems about PPRC's reported protest activities. He claimed no knowledge of them.

"I was not part of any `ill will' or `gorilla' thing (that's news to me)," he replied. "I collected the requisite number of signatures and that was the extent of my involvement."

Well, that and cashing those whopping checks. As for Willems' cheap shot at Vath, Vath should simply take that as evidence that he's gotten underneath Willems' weirdly thin skin.

Naturally, Willems doesn't like what Politico Mafioso has reported, but the facts are just as plain as that fat, yellow snake around Willems' neck above.

(NOTE TO ANY CANDIDATE WHO WANTS TO HIRE THIS MORON:  DON'T! IN 2010, HE BACKSTABBED THEN STATE SEN. DAVE BRASWELL WHEN HIS 'BOSS' SHERIFF JOE ENDORSED BRASWELL, THEN TOOK BACK THE ENDORSEMENT & GAVE IT TO "DUI' GUN TOTING LORI KLEIN!)

Arizona State Senate: Russell Pearce recall campaign

Sen. Russell Pearce has been one of the leading opponents of Clean Elections in Arizona, a program that Public Campaign Action Fund has long supported. In both his time in the House and now as Senate leader, he has supported measures to gut or repeal Clean Elections. Pearce cheered the Supreme Court’s decision to throw out the trigger mechanism in the Clean Elections system this past summer. Read more >

Carl SEEL blasts IRC, hates new district - PM finds Top 10 list of IRC responses

Tuesday’s Arizona Capitol Times reported that LD-6 Representative Carl SEEL (R) testified before the Joint Legislative Committee on Redistricting. Seel alleged that the IRC’s mapping vendor, Strategic Telemetry, may have used nefarious retaliation when drafting his new district boundaries - as payback for legislation he’s sponsored.

Seel basked in the national spotlight for a few brief moments in April when he contacted Donald Trump to discuss his Arizona “birther bill”. Seel’s last brush with the national media was in 2010 when The Daily Show spoofed Seel into being himself, as the Photo Radar Avenger.

If the current LD draft map stands, Seel will have to take his conservative comedy show down the road to more colorful pastures, where red and blue make purple.

After last night’s meeting, the IRC commissioners left behind this TOP 10 LIST of responses to Carl Seel’s complaints.

TOP 10 LIST OF IRC RESPONSES TO REP. CARL SEEL'S PARANOIA
  • 10: We hear there are some killer poker clubs south of Bell Road that you & the Mrs. might enjoy.

  •  9: Seriously, we thought Sylvia Allen authored that birther bill.

  •  8: Jim Weiers, Dave Braswell & Kimberly Yee are great people.

  • 7: Lucky for you, Castles-N-Coasters hosts birthday parties, corporate events and fundraisers!

  •  5: Ask Jim Waring where he buys his shoes.

  • 4: We thought you’d enjoy visiting with your constituents on that 19th Ave express bus to the Capitol.

  •  3: The reception from tin-foil hats is better at the Metrocenter Denny’s. Anthem’s altitude is too high.

  •  2: Swear, we didn’t know you still lived there. We thought your house was foreclosed on & you had to move. Saw it on CBS5.

  •  1: Again sir, you are Carl who?

WES GULLETT - Help us fight against the campaign of lies

Dear Friends:

This election is coming down to the wire -- and I need your help right now. My opponent's special interest friends are flooding the airwaves with attack ads so outrageous that even the Arizona Republic admits "there is no other way to say it... the ad lies." Laurie Roberts writes of shell groups formed to "basically lie to you in hopes of scuttling Wes Gullett's bid to be mayor."

We want to shake up city hall, repeal the food tax and fix the pension mess. Desperately clinging to the status quo, the city union bosses and the insiders supporting Greg Stanton are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to thwart us.

But when a man stopped us at the grocery store last night and said he didn't recognize me without the tattoo across my forehead, I knew we had to fight back hard.

We have come too far in this race to lose because of lies from Greg Stanton and his union friends. We need to hit back... and we need your help. Will you help us get the following ad on the air today?

CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE VIDEO!

Each ad we run in the Phoenix market will cost $222. You can put an ad on the air by contributing $222 -- or, if you can't sponsor a whole spot, $111 will pay for half, $55.50 will pay for a quarter, and even just $5 or $10 will help a lot.

Our opponents are attacking us because they are scared. They never thought we'd make the run-off -- and they surely never thought we'd be in a down-to-the-wire race in the last week of October. Now they've taken off the gloves and are playing dirty politics. With all that is at stake in this election, we cannot afford to let them get away with it. We need to fight back... which is why I need your support today. Right now, while you are thinking about it, can you make a contribution to help us get this ad on the air immediately?

With thanks for anything you can do --

Wes Gullett

PS - I need your help to get our message out. Your donation will keep our ad on television and hold Greg Stanton and his union supporters accountable.

And again -- With less than two weeks to go until we start counting the ballots, how's this for inspiration: Please check out this terrific email from the Phoenix Association of Realtors to the 9000 small business men and women whose hard work makes up the backbone of our community. I am honored to have their confidence and support!
